Every step matters

ASALE was born from the initiative of two mothers, Kandy Ramos and Acsa Cruz, who travelled to the municipality of El Rancho, San Agustín Acasaguastlán, to take their children to therapy sessions. Seeing the need shared by many families in Sanarate, a clear vision emerged: to bring these services closer to the children and young people of their own community.

The first meeting to begin the process took place on 17 February 2024, when Carmen María Arreola also joined. With the support and guidance of FUNDAL, an allied organization that accompanied the initial process, and thanks to the steps taken, the annex of the Municipality of Sanarate was secured as the first venue.

On 12 September 2024 the first therapy session was delivered, an important step for the organization. During those first sessions the Board of Directors also began to take shape, in order to give continuity to the organizational process, with Zoila Ramos and Mirna Arriaza joining later.

At the beginning of 2025, the venue was moved to a private house, in order to strengthen the independence of the organization and to promote genuine community participation.

On 23 January 2025 the year's activities began with a Parents' Assembly, where general information was shared and the annual activities were organized. Later, on 13 February 2025, the first therapy sessions of the year were held with an initial group of 20 beneficiaries.

Today, ASALE continues to move forward in its consolidation process, working towards legal status, strengthening its venue and building up its Board of Directors, with the goal of providing a better service to the community.
